Four Brothers, One Studio Session: A Portrait Experience They’ll Treasure for Life

What if you could purchase something local (today) that exponentially increases in value with every passing year?

No, it's not gold or stocks.  It's a siblings portrait.  Do you have one from your childhood?

Families grow and change quickly, and professional portraits create a visual record of who they are right now—individual personalities, shared history, all of it captured in a single session.  Sibling portraits are special and fun the moment their taken, but a parent knows it's a gift the kids will treasure even more in the future- long after Mom and Dad are gone.

For this family, the timing was perfect. Their mom had hoped to join our annual School Picture Special back in August but missed it. She still wanted updated portraits that showed the boys’ changing faces—something similar to school photos, but elevated. A full portrait session gave us room to do even more: a strong group shot, individualized moments for each brother, and creative images she didn’t even know she wanted yet.

One of my favorite moments came during the group shot. I asked for serious, tough-guy expressions—but the two youngest couldn’t hold back their smiles. Their attempts were valiant, but the laughter won out every time.  (Special thanks to their support team who came to cheer them on- it's perfectly fine to bring along an audience!)

Even though Mom had been imagining more “traditional” portraits, I wanted to show her something unexpected. We created a set of dramatic profile images in black and white for each brother—clean, simple, and striking. When she saw them, she lit up. I love revealing a new perspective! (see below)

If you’d like to see how the entire session came together, I’ve stitched the highlights into a short Reel.
