Choosing between outdoor and studio settings for high school senior photos can be a fun decision....
A Personal Mother's Day Portrait For Me
Every year I try to take a nice portrait with my four kiddos for Mother's Day. This year, I was so busy I almost forgot about it... until I realized Mother's Day was two days away! I knew I didn't want to photograph on a Saturday or Sunday (those are "unwind and process" days, not "generate and create" days) so... Friday was the day. We had minutes to head to the ball field, no one had coordinating clothes meeting the criteria of "clean" and "still fits." Charlotte's hair was still wet. Daddy was still at work and I forgot the tripod to set the camera on for a self timer, so how could I make this work?
My solutions:
Clothes don't match in color? Black and white photography!
Bruce doesn't match the theme because he's in baseball clothes? Oh, well! It's an accurate memory!
How to get us all in the picture with no photographer? I took one picture of the four kids, leaving extra room on the right side of the picture. Then the boys stayed there while the girls hopped up and I sat down beside baseball Bruce on the end. Clara took another picture and I merged them in Photoshop.
Now I have a sweet memory- with no yelling or stress! We made it on time to Morse Park and enjoyed a wonderful spring evening together. Happy Mother's Day!
Left to right: Charlotte is 7, Clara is 13, Jack is 16, Bruce is 10 and Mom is 43 (you know you wanted to know!)
