(The following reasons came from my own head and are not the results of a ChatGPT prompt. I did call my younger brother in Indiana, also a photographer, because he's a lot like ChatGPT, only meaner).

#1: People do business with people they know and trust

Your face is part of your “brand.”  Since people are constantly bombarded by advertising and information, our brains are quickly sorting through the noise for what’s relevant or important.  No matter how smart and technical we think we are, humans will always gravitate toward another human’s friendly face.  A nicely done, pleasant headshot on your social media or LinkedIn profile sends a reassuring signal of “It’s me, you can trust me.”

#2:  Updating your social media adds another layer of trust

An out-of-date social media profile can suggest that you once had grand hopes of posting regularly… but lost the enthusiasm to keep up.  I think we’ve all been there.  It can be draining to consistently engage online!  But instead of thinking “UGH- I always have to be ON,” reframe it as “My online presence is always working for me”, then schedule your posts in advance.  Simply updating your profile picture is an easy action that keeps you in the feed without having to come up with anything to say!   I encourage my clients to buy a few extra images, since they’ve already paid the Session fee, and they can slowly release the different images through the year (**especially if they’re in a different outfit or setting.** I have learned some insights on this and I would be happy to share in person so I don’t mention names online! Feel free to call me and I’ll spill the tea).

#3 Business cards, website, billboards, Google listings, business profiles… you can’t move forward until you “upload photo.”

And it might as well be a great one!
